Big Day Against Triple A, KCVI 05.02.12
In a battle between the two downtown rivals, the RND Girls Rugby squad matched up against the KCVI Blues on Churchill field, posting a 39-0 win. Coming off a great Ohio tour, the girls kept the ball rolling, dominating the game offensively with excellent rucking and great ball handling. Christin Wilson opened up the scoring first and they didn t look back from there. Player of the game Ellen Fargo set up the back line nicely and hardest worker Megan Burgess kept her legs moving and drove the Blues back into their end. Next game is this Friday against the combined QE team. RND high scorers were Christin Wilson, Kelsie Tobin (2), Caitlin Campbell, Becky Berry, Adriana Oliveira, Hannah Greenwood, Evelyn LeBlancq, Ellen Fargo, Meg Dickson and Gabriela Braga with 2 converts
Girls Rugby Tour 05.03.12
The RND Girls Rugby squad took to the road and traveled once again to Columbus for the Ohio Rugby Classic. After a brief visit to Niagara Falls, the girls arrived and played an incredible tournament displaying great heart and true panther spirit.
The first game of the tournament saw RND match up against Lakewood on a cold, windy, rainy day. Like true Canadian girls they came out strong in a hail storm with some low, hard rucking and swift offloads that set the tone for the rest of the game. Our newest 'member' of the back line, Angelique Noel opened up the scoring with a hard fought try and the team never looked back. Adding to the score were birthday girl Megan Burgess, Adriana Oliveira, and Kelsie Tobin. The next game was a matchup against a fast, hard running and experienced Parma team. Down at half, the girls pulled together led by Oliveira and her bone crunching tackles on all sides of the field. The rampage spread to the rest of the team and they rallied themselves together; in the second half Noel scored two hard earned tries with Meg Dickson and Tobin adding on a pretty textbook play off the scrum to score the third. The last game of the tournament saw a very tight match against A. B. Lucas from London, Ontario. The girls came out strong scoring three tries in the first half. Once again Oliveira and Tobin chipped in one try a piece followed by a dream team Wilson combination that saw Haley score her first try of the season.
Overall the team saw great growth over the tour both on and off the pitch. The backs, led by hard tackling Ellen Fargo, continued to improve their offensive attack, getting the ball out early and putting defensive pressure on the opposing team. Rookie of the tournament Hannah Greenwood stepped up her game in the back line and showed bright promise for the future of the team. The forwards, led by the indomitable Noel, charged down the field in convincing fashion, scoring for a combined 8 tries. And of course, managing the entire team was General Tobin, who took control of both the offensive and defensive attack in every game. As always, she brought her team to the next level of play, directing traffic, calling plays and getting the ball in the right hands. Overall, the RND squad played a complete game with intensity, true grit and heart displayed by all team members on and off the field.

However, not all games were played on the pitch. The girls had a series of challenges to complete over the course of the weekend, culminating in the 1st Annual Knock On Games. Team V. Vultures showed true competitive spirit all weekend long and captured the coveted trophy. Honourary mention goes out to Team Swaggy for their outstanding performance as well. Overall the tour was a great success with many laughs shared by all. Back to KASSAA now where the girls will match up against downtown rivals, the KCVI Blues.
