Girls Soccer - On to the Semi's 05.14.13
The RND Junior Panthers "leaf" no doubt about their deserving a spot in semifinal action next week. The girls came out strong for their first playoff game, with an early goal by Mikayla Rostek. Rostek's point was soon followed by a series of three goals by the Panthers' Cristina Tavares, Emma Lefebvre, and Jennifer Cowan. The girls maintained their lead in the second half with a solid passing game, showing excellent teamwork on both ends of the pitch.
Adding to the Panthers' victory, Natalie Blasko scored one more before the Eagles got one point past goalie Kristina Nuvoloni. The Panther coaches are proud of their team for sticking to their game plan, and not "leafing out" under pressure. RND High Scorers: Cristina Tavares - 1; Emma Lefebvre - 1; Jennifer Cowan - 1; Mikayla Rostek - 1; Natalie Blasko - 1

Father Stan Memorial versus Holy Cross 05.06.13
It was a close call for the Junior Panthers at today's Father Stan Memorial game. The girls were kept on their toes by the Crusaders' quick offensive play, but managed to control the field for the majority of the second half. Thanks to a solid Panther defensive line and some gutsy saves by goalie Kristina Nuvoloni, the Panthers held the Crusaders to a shutout. It wasn't until there remained only two minutes on the clock that midfielder Cristina Tavares made a key pass to Bridget Mulholland, who maneuvered through Crusaders defenders to tap in the deciding goal of the game.

Special mention goes to Emma Lefebvre and Jasmine Zahra, each of whom stepped up to play goalkeeper for half of the game, holding the Falcons to their single goal. The girls look forward to taking on the Crusaders in next week's Father Stan Memorial game. RND High Scorers: Jennifer Cowan - 1; Bridget Mulholland - 1.
