Tournament Win to Open the Season 04.07.13
The RND Junior Boys Soccer team has made a big statement as it prepares to open defence of its 2012 EOSSAA Championship. The Panthers went undefeated in winning the KCVI Blueball tournament on Friday at Tindall Field. The Panthers opened the tournament with a 1-0 win over the host Blues. Joe Ghabros did the scoring for the Panthers while Lucas Van Nest was the catalyst behind a RND defence. In their second game, Regi shutout Sydenham 1-0 with Sebastian Hubbard getting the shutout and the Panthers closed out the round robin portion of the tournament with a 3-2 win over LCVI. In the final, RND squared off against the Smiths Falls Red Hawks, who were fielding a varsity team. The Red Hawks convincingly won their pool, outscoring their opponents 11-3. However, they were unable to intimidate the Panthers in the final. RND fought hard and put their superior skill to use in securing a convincing 3-1 win.
