Senior Boys Rugby: RND's Senior Boys Rugby team will be accompanying the Junior Rugby team this Thursday to compete in the KASSAA finals! It has been decades since Regi has been in this position and now we are a mere 48 hours of having both teams compete for city championships. The senior boys played a very gutsy game against rivals Napanee. The forwards played their hearts out making few errors and playing strong defense. The backs attacked with great pace and determination. Jake Hulton scored the first try by kicking a grubber and scooping it up for the score. Aiden Tamasauskas followed with a beautiful run along the touch line. Our captain Jesse Stone sealed the victory in the second half with a glorious try bursting through Napanee s defence. All in all, a fantastic day for Regi rugby. Time to get geared up for the finals this Thursday. Hope to see a lot of fans out! RND High Scorers: Tries Jake Hulton, Aiden Tamasauskas, Jesse Stone, Convert Nick Del Mei.
Senior Girls Soccer:
A daunting sky and wet conditions were the setting for a KASSAA senior girls soccer semifinal at RND, and the visiting Holy Cross Crusaders came out ready to play. The Crusaders opened the scoring in the first half following some consistent pressure, but the Panthers roared back to take the halftime lead. Rachel Bouvier and Tareca Whittingham potted first half markers to stake the Panthers to a 2-1 lead at the break. Bouvier added a second while Emily Rowsell scored two of her own to round out a 5-1 semifinal win. The girls are off to the KASSAA finals for the fifth consecutive year on Thursday at St. Lawrence College.
Junior Boys Rugby:
The heat, humidity and LaSalle Knights could not hold back the Regiopolis-Notre Dame Panthers from returning to their third KASSAA finals in a row! A great display of rugby was put on by the junior boys rugby team who ran up and down Brother O Gara s field. One of the players was quoted saying: Whenever our back got the ball, we scored. And scored often. Great runs by Sean, Xavier, and Lucas helped put the game out of reach. But the backs can t take all of the glory. Our forward pack helped shut down LaSalle's ball controlling forward play by tackling and counter rucking hard. Overall, a great day and another trip to KASSAA finals. RND High Scorers: JM Noel, Xavier Vigneau 2 tries, Ameen Aghamirian, Lucas Mortenson, Sean Mombourquette, Connor Tobin, Nick Carriere 3 converts.
Junior Boys Soccer: The RND Junior Boys soccer team has earned a berth in KASSAA finals with a 2-0 win over Frontenac. Zach Knapp-Hermer opened the scoring for Regi midway through the second half. The Panthers added to their lead when Adrian Soyic chipped a shot into the top corner with just 15-minutes remaining in the game. The Panthers will play in Thursday's final at the Invista centre.

  RND Rattles the Raiders 05.16.12
In a thrilling Senior boys quarter final match between North Kingston rivals RND and QECVI, the Panthers came out victorious in a 5-0 game played infront of an enthusiastic crowd of Rugby fans. The entire game was physically intense as both teams battled hard, rucking, tackling and mauling up and down the pitch. The Panthers demonstrated rock solid defense preventing QE from posting points. The only issue for Regi was dealing with the large amount of penalties against us. Two players entered the sin bin during the game, but even playing short handed, the Panthers held off the opponent. The only try of the game came from Jake Hulton who intercepted a pass, kicked the ball deep, and pounced on it in the goal 20 minutes into the first half. Definite redemption for the last time Jake played QE. Overall, a solid day of rugby. Now it's time to focus on the semi finals this up coming Tuesday.

Senior Boys Rugby: After a slow start Regi s Senior Boys rugby team devoured the Eagles on a beautiful Monday afternoon. The starting fifteen played well when they wanted to but allowed for Sydenham to take a lead at half time. Before making a whole sale change of players, the original group showed the team that they have the heart to play. The Panthers controlled the play for the entire second half. Great runs made by Stone, Hulton, Storr and Ling. Regi Rugby Returns 04.18.12
The defense of the Junior KASSAA championship started off on the right foot with a 15-0 victory over the Lasalle Black Knights. The Panthers, comprised of many great athletes new to the sport, battled hard the entire game. Many players stepped up during their first experience playing the game of rugby. All three tries were scored by rookies, along with countless tackles, rucks, and offensive attacks. However, veteran leadership was necessary and Connor Tobin and Nick Zanet did a great job leading the pack.
Overall, a great start to the season, but the war has simply just begun. It will be a long road to travel in order to retain city champ status, but a road in which we are ready to walk with heads held high.

MacDonald doubled the lead a short while later, burying a shot in the top corner of the net following some strong play down the right wing. Brittany Almeida pushed the lead to three by scoring from a free kick, and Rachel Bouvier rounded out the scoring following a nice turn and shot in the first half. The weather cleared up for the second half, but the 4-0 lead proved enough to finish off NDSS. Maggie Veitch recorded her first shutout of the season for the win.
