Panthers Sweep Lancers in KASSAA Volleyball Doubleheader
Taken From the Kingston Whig Standard

For the second straight year, the Regiopolis-Notre Dame Panthers rule high school boys volleyball in these parts.
The Panthers swept the junior and senior boys Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association championship games on Sunday at the Queen's Centre.
Regi beat the Loyalist Lancers in straight sets in the junior and senior contests.
The senior Panthers won their sixth KASSAA title in a row, while it was two in a row for the juniors.
"It's more relief than anything else," Panthers senior coach Mark McKenna said.
The Panthers always have a target on their backs. This year, they're the team everyone in the province wants to beat as Regi won the provincial triple-A title last year.
Eight players are back from last year's provincial championship squad, but just one starter -- John Justinich, who had eight kills in the final. Teammate Martin Freundorfer also had eight kills.
"We're in the mid 60s (in games played this season)," McKenna said. "We've seen everyone we need to see and assuming we go through to (the provincial championships with a win at the Eastern Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association championship on Thursday in Pembroke), we should be a top-three seed."
McKenna was full of praise for Loyalist coach Tom Worthy, who coached both Lancers teams to championship appearances.
"I think it's fabulous that he got both teams to the final," McKenna said. "That's really a credit to his program."
The junior Panthers had to play without starting left side Fred Scott, who was hurt playing hockey this weekend. But Aidan Ross stepped into the starting lineup and did an outstanding job, coach Pat Farrell said.
Connor Santoni led the way with 14 kills for Regi.
Farrell said the Panthers missed just one serve all afternoon.
The Panthers host the EOSSAA triple-A junior event on Tuesday.
