Quite a Day for RND 10.27.11
The Panthers hosted the Blues of KCVI on the Brother O'Gara field this afternoon in football playoff action. RND moved the ball at will and despite racking up the yardage the Panthers were unable to pull away on the scoreboard until later in the match and post a 21 - 0 victory. A consistent effort throughout the entire match means the Garnet & Gold are well prepared for their semi-final contest next Tuesday.
Success on a Soaken Day 10.20.11
On a soggy Brother O'Gara field the host Panthers defeated the Golden Hawks from Napanee 21 - 6 in the regular season finale of the KASSAA Senior Football season. RND scores came from; Jesse Stone 12 , Ryan Fox 6 and Nick Del Mei 3. The Panthers now look forward to a first round playoff match-up on Thursday, October 27th. The RND Scoreboard will have more Panther Football Playoff news as soon as possible.
Friday Football Fortunes Versus in Odessa 10.14.11
The improving Senior Panthers travelled west to face the Eagles of Ernestown in scenic Odessa. Mackenize Harris scored one major and Brogan Carroll rambled in for another touchdown. Nick Del Mei added 4 singles as the Garnet & Gold outlasted the home field Eagles 16 - 1.
Panthers Knock Off K.O.C.H.S. 09.22.11 - from the Kingston Whig Standard
The visiting Regiopolis-Notre Dame Panthers recorded the first upset of the high school senior football campaign, striding off the Holy Cross gridiron with a stunning 10-7 victory over the Crusaders.
Liam Brand's four-yard plunge with under five minutes remaining capped a comeback and carried the day for the cats.
"We're not celebrating anything yet," noted Regi coach Chris White, who wasn't exactly gloomy in the afterglow of Regi's first win at Holy Cross in several years. "It's a long season with a long ways to go."
Trailing 7-3 late in the fourth quarter, the Panthers moved the ball on several off-tackle plays through holes created by an offensive line that drew considerable praise from the coach.
"Our O-line had an outstanding game, especially (centre) Mitch Noonan and (tackle) Chris Cruickshank," lauded White.
Regi linebacker Jake Hulton's eight solo tackles spearheaded a defence that surrendered Riley Tripp's short rushing major early in the final quarter and little else.
Following a scoreless opening half, Nick Delmei's booming 42-yard field goal at the end of the third quarter gave the visitors a 3-0 lead.
Delmei's punting also was an integral part of the triumph. Time and again in the final period, his boots and a pursuing Regi special teams unit pinned the Crusaders deep in their end. The host team's best starting position in the quarter was the 15-yard line.
White said his troops, buttressed by a "good week" at practice, were "cautiously optimistic" beforehand.
