The Cathy Joyce Memorial is held every year in memory of RNDs previous student Cathy Joyce that died on March 17th, 1993 while on a trip to Cuba from meningitis. Cathy Joyce was an excellent role model and addition to the RND Athletics. In the past both teams and members of the Cathy Joyce's family gather on either the Brother O'Gara (RND) or Mo Daniel field (Holy Cross) dressed in their school colours to pray before the game. After prayer and reflection of her death the game of great rivalry begins.
