The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board is committed to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to achieve to their highest potential, both in school and in later life. Fulfilling this commitment requires recognition that resources must be provided and effective strategies must be developed to meet the particular educational needs of First Nation, Métis and Inuit students in ALCDSB schools. Knowing and understanding Aboriginal students and their families will enable educators to make more informed educational decisions.

The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, like most School Districts throughout Ontario, is inviting Aboriginal students and their families to tell us, voluntarily and confidentially, if you are of Aboriginal descent. This is part of a larger, long-term initiative to improve understanding of Aboriginal histories, cultures, and perspectives by all members of our school community. Along with the Ministry of Education, the ALCDSB has identified Aboriginal education as one of its key priorities. Our goal is to improve achievement among First Nation, Métis, and Inuit students, and to provide an opportunity for all students to gain knowledge and understanding about Aboriginal cultures and traditions.
