St. Theresa students walk one mile for Parkinson's Disease

June 10, 2016

Walk for Parkinson's TeamThis spring, Harry McMurtry is walking 500 miles from New York City to Toronto to raise money for Parkinson's research.

On June 10, on his way to Toronto, Harry stopped at St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School, where students joined Harry and his team for one mile. Students, staff and Harry's team walked around the field four times, equivalent of one mile.

Titan spirit was strong as students walked to support Parkinson's disease and be a part of Harry's 500 mile walk to raise money and awareness. The financial goal of 500 Miles for Parkinson's is $500,000 for Parkinson's research.

Before the walk, students joined in the morning to hear a presentation and learn more about Parkinson's disease from Harry's team. After, students played a game through Kahoot! to test their knowledge of the disease.

Also that morning, loose change was collected in each class to help support Parkinson's research.
