Helping the environment, one person at a time

April 26, 2015

holynameearthday.jpgBillions of people around the world took part in Earth Day 2015, the 45th anniversary of the movement.  Students and staff at Holy Name Catholic School took part in a schoolyard and community cleanup in an attempt to make their community a greener place. Prior to going out into the community, students watched a short video on how one person can make a difference and were briefed on safety tips.  During the cleanup, students' awareness was heightened as they discovered first-hand the devastating impacts of illegal dumping and improper disposal of waste on their community and the environment.  They couldn't believe the number of items that were collected, and planned to continue helping the environment throughout the school year.
