Kindergarten Meditation at St. Gregory

January 15, 2016

Ms. Farrington, a kindergarten teacher at St. Gregory Catholic School has introduced meditation to her class through a book called "Peaceful Piggy Meditation" and says it has been a huge success!

The class began meditation to calm their bodies after recess and prepare them for afternoon activities. The children love the book and regularly ask for it to be a part of their class room activities.

Ms. Farrington says the children's interest in the book wasn't a surprise as the children had been very interested in meditation.

"The list is endless as to how it supports and promotes self-regulation.  The mind in a jar and rock are visual supports to help children recognize need to soothe their minds, and calm their emotions setting them up for success in the rest of their day in their interactions with each other and in learning," says Ms. Farrington.
