Neighbours helping neighbours

April 26, 2015

jjonearthday.jpgStudents from the Outdoor Club at J.J. O'Neill Catholic School spent Earth Day helping neighbours and helping their community. The club of 30 students from grades 5–8 reached out to the seniors in their neighbourhood and offered to rake and bag leaves from their lawns. The seniors were thrilled to have this wonderful help. The students also cleaned and raked leaves from their own school yard. The leaves collected in the school yard will be spread out as mulch on the path in the school's Peace Garden and the leaves collected from the seniors' lawns were bagged and left for the town to collect. The club plans to do more activities like this in the future.
