Mission Trip 2015

October 08, 2015

Two students from RND appearing on CKWS TVRND students Dominique Drouin and David Hudson appeared on CKWS TV on October 7 to discuss their upcoming mission trip. Grades 11 and 12 International Baccalaureate (IB) students will be travelling to Cabarate, Dominican Republic in November as part of their CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) hours. They will be volunteering with the Mariposa DR Foundation (http://www.mariposadrfoundation.org/). During the mission, students will be building a security wall made of concrete and recycled glass to improve the security of the Foundation, will work with Dominican children and teens to establish a permaculture garden, and will tutor children in academic subjects. To help cover the cost of supplies to be donated such as clothing, shoes, dry baby formula and school supplies, students have organized fundraisers such as a bottle drive, bake sale, car wash and several in-school events. The students will be holding an Online Silent Auction October 19 – 30 to raise more funds for this important trip. You can find more information about the auction on the students' Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/rndmission2015.
