"Koins for Koalas" at Our Lady of Lourdes

Students from the Our Lady of Lourdes EcoTeam met to discuss the impact of the devastating forest fires in Australia. They decided to raise money by holding a spirit day which they called “Koins for Koalas". Students were asked to bring in coins and wear their P.J.'s to school along with their favourite stuffed animal. 

Students raised $390.00! The EcoTeam members also wrote a letter to the Catholic School Council asking if they would like to donate as well.  They graciously agreed to match the students donations. In total the school will be sending $800.00 to the Red Cross relief efforts in Australia.  

They contacted Mark Gerretsen's office to see what would be the best charity to donate to, which is why they selected the Red Cross.
