St. Gregory student wins local OPP & MADD contest

December 11, 2019

OPP and LCBO and school staff with winning submission

This Fall, the Prince Edward County OPP partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Quite and the local LCBO stores in Prince Edward County to participate in the "Think of Me" Campaign.

This campaign started in efforts to raise awareness in the Grade 4,5 & 6 classes across the province of Ontario about the dangers of drinking and driving, and the health related risks and dangers of utilizing alcohol, cannabis and other drugs.

The local LCBO stores provided blank paper bags to students to colour their own "anti-drinking and driving" messages on the paper bags.

Many classes at St. Gregory Catholic School in Picton participated.

On Tuesday, December 10, representatives from LCBO and the OPP came together to pick a local winner of the paper bags, which will be sent to central Ontario, where bags from all across Ontario will be reviewed. The winning design will be printed on 50,000 LCBO bags for the Victoria Day Long Weekend in May.

Congratulations to Evelyn, Grade 4 student at St. Gregory Catholic School for being selected as the winning bag at the local level.  Thank you to all St. Gregory Catholic School students who participated and worked to raise awareness for drinking and driving.
