The Catholic Girls League in Read tries to promote the idea of giving back to their school, community and parish, and that's exactly what they've been doing.
Within their parish, these girls help with CWL events, church services, and visiting the local nursing home. This year, students made Christmas cards for every single resident at the local nursing home and were delivered on Christmas Day.
In addition, each year the girls pick a charity within the community. Last year, they picked two charities, raising $100 for the pediatric floor of the Belleville General Hospital, and $265 (and many supplies) for the Napanee Humane Society.
The motto of the Catholic Girl's League is "faith, friendship, fun and formation." This group is for girls aged 10-15 and meetings are held at St. Mary Catholic School in Read over their lunch hour. Girls are welcome to be part of the group after they complete Grade 8 and many participate outside of school and in community activities.
Congratulations to the Catholic Girls League in Read! Your actions demonstrate the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board's theme, "Faith in Action."
