On Friday, September 22 students and staff at Holy Name of Mary Catholic School participated in their annual Terry Fox Run. Each year their goal is to raise around $650, and this year was no different. The school set out to raise $650 to support cancer research.
However, this year, Holy Name of Mary students and staff raised over $2,000! Over triple their goal!
Based on a discussion about Terry Fox as a hero, the students started talking about attributes of a hero and all different types of heroes. On October 18 the school celebrated their contribution to Terry Fox Foundation with a hot dog lunch and superhero costumes.
Students and staff wore traditional hero costumes such as, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. But students remembered their discussion of all types of heroes and also wore costumes such as doctor and father.
Congratulations once again to Holy Name of Mary Catholic School for your dedication and hard work to raise money and awareness for cancer research.
