We hope our students are staying healthy and active right now. To keep up-to-date on what is happening with Student Services, you should check Regi Guidance in d2L or via Twitter. If you don't see it, let us know. Your teachers and counsellors are reaching out to you through d2L and Board email – definitely check it regularly. And do not hesitate to send your guidance counsellor a message at this time - Ms. Gaudet, Mrs. Glancey Cox, and Mr. Poser are available to answer your questions via email.
Finally, keep in mind RND is a family, and we've got your back. Teachers and staff are figuring out ways to support your learning at this time. If there are obstacles you face, reach out. Administration, Guidance, Youth Workers, and all of your teachers want to help.
News for Grade 12 Potential Graduates -
From the Ministry of Education
Discussions are being held with colleges and universities about the adaptations required to support the admission process for students applying for post-secondary education, and further information will be provided.
We want to be clear: graduating students should not have their graduation or progression impacted by the developments surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. We are working in close cooperation with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities and sector stakeholders to ensure no student's graduation or transition to post-secondary is jeopardized as a result of the school closure period.
The graduation requirement to complete 40 hours of community involvement is suspended for this school year. Community involvement hours that have been completed should be reported on the report cards of graduating students. Graduating students should be encouraged to complete their hours wherever possible, where the health and safety of the student can be assured. Boards should encourage specific volunteer initiatives for students that support communities' response to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as letter-writing campaigns to seniors.
Important COVID-19 Update from the OUAC and Ontario's Universities
In response to the many questions being asked about the impact of school closures due to the COVID-19 crisis on university applications, the OUAC and the Ontario universities want to reassure you that they are focused on ensuring that the application process continues as smoothly as possible for students. Until we receive direction from the Ministry of Education, we hope to adhere, as best we can, to the published 101 Schedule of Dates to try to maintain some semblance of normalcy for students and parents.
