Public Health Units Issuing Alert for Non-Prescription Fentanyl

KFL&A Public Health is hosting a parent/caregiver information night on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, to speak to parents/caregivers on the opioid situation in KFL&A, to answer questions and concerns on how to keep their children safe.  The event will begin with arrival 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. with refreshments and community partner displays providing information and resources for families.   Presentations beginning at 7:00 p.m. followed by the opportunity for parents to meet with various community partners in attendance to address the needs they might have for information or resources, as a family. The event will occur in the LCVI cafetorium.

The KFL&A and HPE Public Health Units are issuing an alert to communities confirming that non-prescription fentanyl is in both jurisdictions. The Public Health Units are sending an immediate communication to ensure that the community is aware. Please note that the Public Health Units are working on additional strategies to support communities including: community forums, training sessions, a social media campaign and print media.

The Public Health Units are available to take questions from the public and their contact information is contained in the letters from the Medical Officers of Health.
