RND - HomeStay.pngInterested in becoming a Homestay Family to a new or returning international student this September? 

The International Education Program is urgently seeking host families who can provide: 

  • A safe & caring family environment within Kingston’s city limits  
  • A single bedroom, with a suitable desk 
  • Reasonable transportation to and from extracurricular school activities 
If you are interested in opening your home to an international youth and becoming a Homestay Parent with the Algonquin and Lakeshore International Education Program, please reach out to international@alcdsb.on.ca or visit studyincanada.network/homestay-program for more information.

ALCE Foundation Spring Silent Auction - May 4-7New

The ALCDSB is delighted to announce that the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic Education Foundation Virtual Silent Auction will be held from Saturday, May 4 to Tuesday, May 7, concurrent with Catholic Education Week! 

Stay tuned for a series of teaser posts on ALCDSB social media feeds for what’s in store. All of the proceeds go to the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic Education Foundation. Since 2007, the ALCE Foundation has provided over $500,000 in financial aid to support more than 1,400 students and their families. Learn more here. ​

Led by experts Steve Keller, Drug Free Kids Canada, and Joe Wedlock, YMCA of Central East Ontario,  this four-part series is your guide to crucial conversations.

About the speakers: 
Steve Keller, program developer and national speaker for Drug Free Kids Canada, unveils the realities of the overdose crisis in sessions one and two. Equipped with a Bachelor of Education from Trent University, Steve's dynamic approach bridges research insights with real-world experiences, empowering audiences nationwide.

In sessions three and four, Joe Wedlock, an authority in education and prevention, explores gaming, gambling, and media literacy. Drawing from his expertise with the YMCA's Youth Gambling Awareness Program and his background in Sociology and Communications from the University of Ottawa, Joe brings clarity to the evolving landscape of technology and its impact on youth gambling behaviors.
