A group of Grade 11 and 12 students travelled to the Dominican Republic for a week in February 2020, for a poverty exposure tour. The students and staff spent a week living with local Dominican families. The students experienced living on traditional and local Dominican food, living without running water, sleeping with mosquito nets around their beds, visiting local Batay’s, schools, churches, Fair Trade cooperative, and much more. As a result of the trip, the students and staff have a first hand, authentic understanding of poverty and the systems that perpetuate it. This experience happens every second year, so Falcons, if you are interested, see Ms. Marchand-Lacey for more information!
