Welcome Back – 2018/2019
We welcome our returning students and families and extend a special
greeting to the students and families who just joined the Our Lady of Mercy
Catholic School community. We look forward to a year that is filled with
expectations, opportunities and friendships. Over the course of the summer, we have had some additional staffing changes including the resignations of Mr. Stephen Tod and Ms. Michelle Neumann who have decided to return to Moosonee to take advantage of new career opportunities. Mrs. Joanne Prentice also decided to retire. We wish them all well on their new journeys in life. Therefore we have a number of new members to our Staff. We welcome our new staff members: Ms. Chrstina Balemba (Grade 7/8 Teacher); Mrs. Martie Berthelot (Administrative Assistant); Ms. Cassandra O'Shea (French as a Second Language Teacher); Mrs. Jennifer Pridie (Grade 4/5 Teacher); and Ms. Maeghan Zulik (Educational Assistant). The hiring and recruitment process for a new Vice Principal, Youth Worker and Early Childhood Educator is currently being completed.
Please take the time to
read our newsletter that is available on line (under Parent Information) However, you may prefer to sign up on our homepage to have the newsletter enailed directly to you. In our newsletter, we do our best to keep you informed of activities in our School Board,
our school, our parishes and in the community as well. Please also check us out
and follow us on Twitter @alcdsb_omer (you will see a link to our Twitter feed on the home page of this website as well). Please remember that you have the opportunity to pay many school expenses (e.g., milk / juice cards, Hot Lunch orders, School Excursions etc...) using the efficient CashOnline system.
Catholic Education is about the
education and formation of all children in Christ. Our students are both formed
in their faith and educated to become citizens of the world who can transform it
into a more just and loving society. We encourage our parents to become involved
in our school community by participating in school activities, School Council
and/or through volunteering. We value the interconnectedness of school, church
and home and recognize that this is what sets us apart.
Lastly, you will recall that I am also the Prinicipal of our sister school, St Martin of Tours in Whitney. My current plan is to be at St. Martin of Tours on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. I can be reached there should you need to contact me. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
