Minister’s Student Advisory Council
January 10, 2017
2017/18 Minister’s Student Advisory Council (MSAC) is open.
MSAC is a group of 60 grade 7-12 students appointed annually to provide advice to the
Minister of Education on issues of student engagement and achievement. The council
meets with the Minister of Education twice a year. The council also provides feedback
on ministry programs and policy upon request.
The membership includes students from across the province; students on council have
a variety of diverse and unique experiences.

Students in grades 7-12 will have until the February 9, 2017 deadline to apply.
Interested students should complete the MSAC application online. A link to the
application form is http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/students/speakup/msac.html . There
will also be information and advice to help students complete the online form.
Students can apply for the 2017/18 council through a Government of Ontario online
survey tool. Students must complete their application in one online session. Online
sessions will time-out after 60 minutes without saving. This is to protect students’
privacy. Students should save often and not allow their sessions to time-out, because
their work will be lost.
MSAC applications are completed and submitted independently by students, with
minimal adult involvement. MSAC applications should not create significant pressure
on teachers, principals or district school boards. We will provide notification to school
boards and all applicants once appointments to the council are made by the Minister.
