ABA Skill Building Groups

ALCDSB logoWhat is the ABA Skill Development Program?
This program is offering free skills development programming to children/youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder using the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). The program will focus on teaching a variety of skills including social, emotional regulation,  daily living, and communication based on the needs of the child.

Who can join?
Students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, aged 3 to 21, of the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic   District School Board.  Programming will be developed based on age, location and skill. Parents may be asked to participate in weekly parent information sessions.

When and where?
The program will occur weekly and will be scheduled before or after regular school hours. At some schools there will be programming during the school day.  The program will be offered at various schools throughout ALCDSB.  *Parents will be required to arrange transportation*

What are some skills my child/youth might learn in the program?
• Problem solving
• Functional communication
• Asking friends to play
• Accepting “no”
• Identifying feelings
• Meal preparation

How do I refer my child/youth ?
Application Packages  can be found online at www.alcdsb.on.ca or picked up from your child/youth’s  school office.  Completed Application Packages can be dropped off at:  

  • Their school office  

  •  Student Services (151  Dairy Avenue, Napanee)  

  • Emailed or faxed to Student Services
