The province-wide trial of the online OSSLT is just days away. The response to this voluntary test has been tremendous. We are expecting a majority of the 900+ English and French schools and school boards across Ontario to participate.
This is a trial.
Given the strong interest, we want to remind you that this is a trial to test the technical readiness of EQAO, schools and school boards to support online assessments. It will give EQAO a more accurate picture of what technical issues and processes need to be addressed before the regularly scheduled March 30, 2017, assessment.
What the test means for students.
For students, writing the OSSLT online on October 20 will count as a formal attempt on the test. Results will be sent to schools in January, 2017. If students are successful, they will have satisfied the literacy requirement of their diploma early. If students are not successful or encounter technical issues, they are still considered first-time eligible to write the regularly scheduled March 30, 2017, assessment.
Technical issues on October 20.
While we have made every effort to ensure that you are prepared with e‑alerts, guides, webinars and a dedicated website page, we must still prepare for possible technical issues, both big and small, on October 20.
