On Monday, January 13, 2020 OECTA announced that they would be taking part in a one-day full withdrawal of services on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 if an agreement is not reached prior to this date.

Due to this full withdrawal of services, all ALCDSB schools will be closed to students on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.  This affects all ALCDSB elementary and secondary students.

As you are aware, on January 13, 2020 OECTA also initiated a partial withdrawal of services in our Catholic schools, which includes Catholic teachers refraining from activities such as preparing report card comments, participating in EQAO related activities and attending or participating in Ministry of Education initiatives.

The declaration of and continuation of this job action is a result of central (provincial level) negotiations and decisions that will be made at that level. At ALCDSB, we do not control the decisions regarding job action. We are uncertain of the possibility and duration of this job action.

ALCDSB will continue to monitor this job action closely and provide parents/guardians with updates through the board website, www.alcdsb.on.ca and through school websites and social media.

Dual Credit Classes and Co-Op Placements

On Tuesday, January 21 students are not to attend any dual credit classes or co-op placements, including those that take place off of school property.

Extra-Curricular Activities

With the exception of Tuesday, January 21, all extra-curricular activities are still running in all schools. At this time, the administrative job action does not impact extra-curricular activities.

Community Use of Schools

Community Use of Schools during the day will be cancelled for Tuesday, January 21. Any evening Community Use of School permits may continue as per usual. Please contact your Catholic school for more information.

January 9, 2020

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association (OECTA) has announced that they will be taking administrative job action starting on Monday, January 13 unless an agreement is reached. OECTA represents all Catholic teachers within Ontario, including the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.

With this partial withdrawal of services,  OECTA members will be refraining from activities such as preparing report card comments, participating in EQAO- related activities, and attending or participating in Ministry of Education initiatives.

All schools will remain open and at all times, student safety and learning will remain our priority.

ALCDSB will continue to monitor this job action closely and will provide parents/guardians with updates and information as it becomes available through board/school websites and social media.
