The 18th Annual PH Classic will take place on Tuesday, October 16th, 2018. Jr & Sr Girls Basketball games will be played at Regiopolis Notre Dame. The Junior game begins at 5:15 pm and the Senior game follows at 7:00 pm. Every year the members of the Holy Cross and Regiopolis-Notre Dame women’s basketball teams play their league game in memory of Paul Halligan. Paul Halligan lost his battle to cancer 21 years ago on July 21st, 1997. Paul was actively involved in our school communities as a volunteer basketball and football coach as well as the founder of “The Memorial” cancer fundraiser. The PH classic recognizes Paul’s personal commitment to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Considering that October is Breast Cancer Month, we direct our fundraising to the Breast Cancer Screening Centre located here in Kingston. On average this year, 25,000 women will develop breast cancer and 5,500 of these women will die from this disease. Over the last 18 years we have raised over $85,500.00.
We are hopeful that through your donations, we will continue the progress in “Shooting For A Cure!’ Students have already donated their Toonie for Non-uni fee for this day. There will be other fundraising opportunities at the games like silent auction, raffles. T-shirt sales, and toonie toss. We are encouraging everyone to wear pink to school on Tuesday and to the games, as we want to create a visual representation of how the Crusaders and Panthers are coming together as a community to remember Paul and continue to support the cause he worked so tirelessly for.
As a companion piece, the Jr & Sr Boys Volleyball teams will be competing at Holy Cross. The Jr. game starts at noon, and the Sr. game follows at 1:30 pm.
