Pancake BreakfastStudents and staff of Holy Cross were treated to a delicious Pancake Breakfast on Tuesday, February 17th during Period One. A big thank you to the ladies from our Brown's Cafeteria Staff who once again cooked up most of the pancakes. Serving up the pancakes were students and staff from Student Council, CICS' Executive, Green Team and the Jamaica Mission Team. With golden waffles, French toast, and even gluten free pancakes on the menu this year, everyone enjoyed a hearty breakfast. And over $600.00 was raised for this year’s Jamaica Mission Project. Thanks to all for their support of this first fundraising event for our Share Lent Campaign this year.
This year sixteen senior level students and four staff supervisors will be going to Kingston, Jamaica from March 11th to March 18th on the Jamaica Mission Trip. They will be spending their days tutoring at two school projects sponsored by St. Patrick’s Foundation as well as visiting residents at St. Monica’s, a home for the abandoned elderly.
Some of the money raised during our Share Lent Campaign, including our Pancake Breakfast, will support the St. Patrick’s Foundation to provide basic school supplies for the students in the schools (i.e. pencils, pens, colouring books, crayons, rulers, small notebooks etc.) and sports equipment for their teams (i.e. soccer balls, basketballs, pinnie’s or bibs). Our support is also needed to help pay for the construction of a fence that will be built around the school yard at Riverton City Early Childhood Centre.
Thank you for your support of yesterday’s Pancake Breakfast, the first of our school wide Share Lent fundraisers. Please also be generous in your support for our home form collections during Lent, and for our Thinkfast on March 27th. Have a good Lent.
