The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) have announced a one-day full withdrawal of services on Thursday, March 5, 2020.

As a result, all ALCDSB schools will be closed to students. This affects both elementary and secondary students. All information will continue to be posted on the board and school websites.

February 24, 2020

The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board has received notice that provincial negotiations between the central parties will resume on Monday, February 24, 2020.

As a result, the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) will suspend their planned rotating strikes scheduled for the week of February 24 - 28. This means that the rotating strike that was planned to affect ALCDSB schools on Thursday, February 27, 2020 will be suspended. All ALCDSB schools remain open for the remainder of the week.

Administrative Job Action

In addition, the enhanced administrative job action by OECTA members will continue. This means that OECTA members will only undertake their scheduled teaching and supervision duties. They will not accept additional tasks or assignments. Teachers will continue to provide extra-curricular activities.

The declaration of and continuation of this job action is a result of central (provincial level) negotiations and decisions that will be made at that level. At ALCDSB, we do not control the decisions regarding job action. We are uncertain of the possibility and duration of this job action.

ALCDSB will continue to monitor this job action closely and provide parents/guardians with updates through the board website, www.alcdsb.on.ca and through school websites and social media.

An updated letter will be sent home to all families on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.
